"For us adoption ended an 18-year wait for children having been through years of investigations, waiting lists and IVF.
Our first adopted son moved in when he was 4.5 years old and has now been with us nearly 5 years. Our second adopted son moved in when he had just turned 5 years old and has been with us for nearly 18 months.
Our first son gave a new lease of life all the remaining grandparents, which at that time were two Nanas and one Grandad. Our second son is currently revitalising the remaining grandparent - the one remaining Nana.
Both children come with their own challenges, and parenting children from the care system is not for the faint of heart, however, the rewards over the longer term when you can see a child starting to turn things around are worth the effort of the parenting.
They have brought a laughter into the house that only children can generate. I can think of very little better legacy to leave behind after you are gone than children you have helped to raise, living out their life to the best of their ability."
