An exciting vacancy has arisen for the Head of Adoption Counts – one of the regional adoption agencies in the North West.   

Adoption Counts was one of the first RAAs to launch in July 2017 and is now a highly successful, well established partnership between 5 local authorities, Manchester; Cheshire East; Salford; Stockport and Trafford. The agency delivers all adoption services; recruitment and assessment, family finding and adoption support across the partnership, with a strong emphasis on integrating with care planning teams in the local authorities. 

The successful candidate would be joining an agency committed to continuous improvement; striving to deliver excellent services and to embracing innovation and research. There is a strong culture of staff engagement. The post holder will have the opportunity to join the national RAA leaders’ group and so be at the forefront of national developments in the field of adoption.

This is an exciting opportunity to take the agency on the next step of its journey. The successful candidate will have experience of leading services, of working within multi agency and cross boundary arenas and will need a sound knowledge of adoption and permanence. The post is based primarily in Wythenshawe Manchester but with travel across the geographical footprint.

About us 

Adoption Counts is a Regional Adoption Agency, established in 2017 to   deliver adoption services in Cheshire East, Manchester, Salford, Stockport and Trafford local authorities 

Adoption Counts has a specialist Adoption Support Team with a clearly defined management structure, alongside Recruitment and Assessment and Family Finding teams .

Role 

We are looking to recruit 2.6 FTE Adoption Support Social Workers , to join our multi agency Adoption Support Team , delivering services to adopted adults , adopted children and adoptive families. 

The posts will be based at Etrop Court, Wythenshawe and cover the geographical area of the RAA.

The Social Worker will have expert knowledge in the needs of adopted children and the additional resources required to be an adoptive parent. 

They will be knowledgeable in supporting adopted adults to access their birth records and be sensitive to the issues raised during this process and will possess expert assessment skills to undertake adoption assessments of need. 

The posts are available in both our Adoption Support First Response team and our long term adoption support team. 

In all areas of the service the role would be to offer the family support as a qualified and experienced social worker. This would include offering advice and support around attachment and therapeutic parenting, indirect and direct contact, identity and life story for their child and helping families strengthen their resilience and support networks. The work involves liaison with other professionals including health, education and children’s statutory services. 

Interviews will be held in September 2020.
