Everyone’s Buzzing About Adoption

23rd July 2018, 10:00

On the 23rd July, we were out in force to take part in the Bee In The City art trail across Manchester. Proud to have sponsored our own super-sized bee as part of our one-year anniversary celebrations, we visited our Bee-You-ti-ful sculpture at it’s new home outside Manchester One on Portland Street.  It will remain here for the length of the public art event which runs from July through to the end of September.

The Adoption Counts Bee, designed by the very talented Lois Cordelia, includes illustrative families and real-life stories and words from our adoptive parents. Part of our current campaign that celebrates what a difference a year makes in the life of an adoptive child and their new families, the bee supports our message that adoption is truly life-changing. From a child preparing to meet the tooth fairy for the first time, to the fussy eater who has discovered a love of baking; it’s all about sharing stories from adoptive parents about the incredible journey they have been on ad can look forward to.

Representatives from the five local authorities that make up this collaborative agency, turned out to take part on the opening day of this free art trail and there was certainly a buzz around the city. We saw some magnificent pieces of artwork, enjoyed ‘unlocking’ our bees on the Bee In The City app and generally soaked up the atmosphere, with each bee on the trail telling its own story.

The event comes to an end in October, when the Bee will be auctioned off to raise funds for The Lord Mayor of Manchester’s We Love MCR Charity, coinciding with National Adoption Week.
